Patron Saint Dorothy


Also Known as: St. Dorothy of Caesaria, Dorothea

Patron Saint: Florists

Memorial: February 6th

Born: Late 200s

Died: February 6th, 311

Why she is venerated by the Holy Roman Catholic Church:

Vowed a life of virginity and marriage only to Christ

Dedicated her life to God and spent a great deal of time planting beautiful flowers and fruit in memory of Christ

Refused to worship idols

Martyr during the persecutions of diocletian

Miracles:

During her trial at the end of winter season, the prosecuting lawyer mockingly asked Dorothea to bring the fruits and flowers from her bridegroom's garden. The day after she was executed, the fruits were left at his doorstep by an angel. The lawyer converted to Christ shortly after.
